Christina Spangler, LC, MIES

SENIOR LIGHTING DESIGNER

Trained as an interior designer, Christina Spangler learned early in her career the importance of lighting in the built environment. With over 20 years of experience, Christina has designed lighting for hundreds of projects including unique boutique hotels, high-end residential with exquisite art collections, and LEED and WELL certified corporate office spaces. Christina holds a Senior position at BEAM, setting the firm’s process and style for lighting design. In addition to being an excellent listener, she navigates lighting design challenges with ease. In recent years, she has consistently been awarded for her well-designed and inspiring projects.

Heralding her extensive knowledge in lighting, Christina recently published the 4th edition of Lighting Design Basics, a textbook she originally co-authored, introducing lighting concepts and techniques to students and beginners in the industry. In the past, Christina was an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University’s Interior Design Graduate program. She also taught lighting design at Moore College of Art & Design in addition to being a guest lecturer at the Community College of Philadelphia and Drexel University.

Outside of the studio, Christina enjoys dancing and practicing yoga regularly, and spending time with her two rescue dogs, Frankie and PITA.
