Kirsten Kent Carangi, RA, IES

Principal

In 2002, having practiced as an architect for a decade, Kirsten recognized the critical role of lighting in the built environment. She co-founded BEAM to focus on the complete integration of lighting with architecture, landscape and interior design.

Today, Kirsten serves as Principal, overseeing the daily operations, business development and overall leadership of the design studio. One of her favorite roles is presenting BEAM to new clients, introducing lighting design to elevate their projects. Independent of a project’s size, she encourages and promotes exceptional design, reinforcing the studio’s core principles of listening to clients, team collaboration and implementing creative yet realistic lighting design solutions. She continues to shepherd BEAM’s growth as she has over the last decade and is proud of the studio’s recognition for excellence in lighting design.

Throughout her career, Kirsten has volunteered as a Board Member, Trustee, committee leader and active member for a variety of professional and educational organizations; she currently participates in the local WILD (Women in Lighting Design) chapter, advocating for women in the field of lighting design.

Outside of BEAM, her loves include gardening, yoga, jewelry and travel. She’s been nicknamed the ‘ultimate sports mom’, raising two athletic boys that keep her in the hockey rink or on the baseball field year-round.
