The Lawrenceville School’s Fathers Hall, affectionately known as ‘Pop Hall’ to its students, is located in a 100-year-old building on campus and was in desperate need of renovation. The 70ft high rotunda, housing a Greco-Roman bronze statue that Lawrentians have been rubbing for luck in exams, had little direct illumination from the surrounding windows. As the architects worked to redesign the space by removing clutter and colonnades along the curved walls, BEAM designed a vibrant lighting scheme to evenly illuminate the statue from all sides and restore the decorative fixture to beautifully illuminate the space. Other upgrades to the entire building, including lighting, were also made and Pop Hall now shines as it is restored to its former glory.
