Emily Potenza

LIGHTING DESIGNER

Though entering Jefferson University as an interior design major, Emily graduated with an architectural degree and custom minor in lighting design. With a diverse interest in design, she started her professional career while in school, working at an architectural metalwork studio and learning the hands-on process of designing and fabricating in quick turnaround. In her senior year, Emily joined BEAM as a part-time intern to pair real life applications with her lighting design studies in class.

Today, Emily is an emerging professional, assisting in the production of numerous projects and elevating BEAM’s deliverables for its lighting designs. In addition to her strong graphic communication skills to assist with marketing, she completes presentations, detail lighting drawings, calculations and luminaire schedules for a variety of project types.

Emily continues to expand her knowledge of lighting while pursuing her goal of designing for social justice and equitable resources. She particularly enjoys design lighting for BEAM’s non-profit projects.

Emily’s hobbies include drawing, painting and creating illuminated art.
