LD+A’s December issue showcases Simmer Down in an article that takes a closer look on the process of our celebrated lighting project. Senior Designer Christina Spangler tackled the historic character of the unique basement location of this former bank building in Wilmington Delaware utilizing excellent lighting strategies.
“Challenges for the lighting design included the curved brick vaulted ceilings, the low ceiling heights and extensive hand-painted murals, the limited budget and ensuring sufficient task lighting it provided,” explained Kirsten Kent Carangi, Principal at BEAM.
Christina and Jason Bradshaw won several awards for the dramatic lighting design, including the 2024 Raymond Grenard Lighting Design Excellence Award in Philadelphia.
