Adapting a 1959 historic Oil & Gas Building into a new Canopy hotel proves a success in downtown New Orleans
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building retains its glass and steel International Style architecture and is repurposed for an exciting hotel with destination bar and restaurant. The mid-century gen is refreshed with 176 guest suites, a lobby bar, The Herbalist, a Creole Cantonese-inspired restaurant, Ginger Roux, a transfer lounge, and 1,700s of meeting space and private terrace for events.
BEAM collaborated with the architect to select decorative and performance lighting that infuses life into the lobby, bar and lounge, reflecting the musical vibe of New Orleans. Interior and exterior lighting shines in all public spaces, connecting this Hilton hotel brand to the lively culture of the neighborhood.
