Brandywine Realty Trust tasked HOK and BEAM to reimagine the lobby of the iconic Cira Centre in University City
To soften and humanize the space, new furniture and a fireplace were added, along with a vibrant central light feature and a wood wall with linear lighting behind the reception desk. After testing and mocking up a variety of options for the central light feature, BEAM selected a manufacturer that could provide a modification of their standard product, reducing both the cost and lead time.
Each pendant incorporates an individually controllable tunable-white LED offering endless dynamic shows, including waves, bursts and rain-like effects. The range of color temperature also allows the white to remain vibrant during the day and warm in the evening for social events.
As a part of this improvement, a tenant lounge was also added. BEAM worked closely with the design team to seamlessly integrate lighting into the ceiling and millwork pieces creating a striking space.
