The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia held their annual awards evening celebrating twenty projects that succeed in restoring historic buildings within Philadelphia. BEAM was pleased to see two of our projects we were part of recognized.
The Inn of Amazing Mercy restored the abandoned 5-story historic brick Temple Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing into new housing for the homeless. BEAM collaborated with CBP Architects to integrate comfortable and appropriate lighting to provide a safe and inviting temporary home for those in need. Working with Project HOME, the design team successfully created a welcoming home within the community. The project was also recently recognized with an ULI Philadelphia, Award of Excellence.

AOS, BEAM and the design team collaborated to create a new home for YouthBuild. Originally constructed for use as an appliance showroom for PECO, the space is transformed into a new vocational school. BEAM’s lighting design met a strict budget for the interior, providing high quality light for student learning. The handsome 1930’s stone façade is brought back to life with new integrated lighting to shine again along Broad Street.
