A new theatre reflects Westtown’s Quaker appreciation for the arts and student engagement
The theater renovation at Westtown School included new wood wall panels, reconfiguring stage access, and removing the ceiling to expose the catwalks and create a more professional theater atmosphere.
BEAM worked with the design team to organize the ‘house’ lighting and add step lights to the existing cast-in-place stairs. Working within a budget, simple exposed cylinder downlights were organized to accentuate the room’s geometry. BEAM achieved this by highlighting the walls with consistently spaced semi-circular highlights and arcing each row of luminaires which follows the arc of the seating rows below.
