In downtown Philadelphia, Independence Blue Cross has a new grand and sophisticated lobby for its corporate headquarters. A full renovation and multi-story addition, including a vibrant new lighting scheme by BEAM, brings new life to the lobby and exterior entrances of this prominent high-rise building. Control of lighting was critical in implementing the design, properly grouping and zoning fixtures to create ideal light levels throughout the space.
In addition to complementing the new architectural and interior design, the lighting improves the functionality for the daily employees and visitors. At the exterior, the existing four-story columns at the large overhangs are illuminated in IBC’s trademark blue to enhance the facade and night-time presence. The result is a cohesive and successful illumination for both day and night.
