Hailing from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, where overcast weather can persist for months on end, Evgeniia questioned the availability of light was (and, evidently, still is) one of her central concerns. With a background in architecture and structural engineering, after emigrating, Evgeniia restarted her career with a desire to improve people’s quality of life in space. And she found herself as a student again at a master’s program at the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Alongside her studies, she worked as a research assistant in a photometric laboratory, assisting senior scientists in conducting experiments. Her research interest is how different types of amber LEDs impact the ability to accurately identify object color under typical outdoor lighting conditions.
At BEAM, Evgeniia manages a wide range of tasks under the guidance of project managers, including photometric calculations, presentation preparation, rendering, and lighting specifications. She is an active member of the IES and WILD Chapters in Philadelphia, participates in events and conferences, and actively follows international research in the fields of light and architecture.
In her free time, Evgeniia loves camping and hiking in the summer, and downhill skiing in the winter. She adores observing nature and taking photographs, and dreams of one day teaching students at a university.
